The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for maintaining active status for all providers by successfully completing initial and subsequent credentialing packagers as required by commercial payers, Medicare and Medicaid.
Responsibilities
- Maintain individual provider files to include up to date information needed to complete the required governmental and commercial payer credentialing applications
- Maintain internal provider grid to ensure all information is accurate and logins are available
- Update each provider CAQH database file timely according to the schedule published by CMA
- Apply for and renew annually all provider licenses; Professional, DEA, Controlled Substance
- Complete revalidation request issued by government payers
- Complete credentialing applications to add providers to commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Complete re-credentialing applications for commercial payers
- Assist with billing staff to identify and resolve and denials or authorization issues related to provider credentialing
- Maintain accurate provider profiles on CAQH, CMS and other alike databases
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 5 years of related experience; Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis preferred
- Experience with CAQH or similar database preferred
- Ability to deal with diverse populations
- Strong Critical Thinking, Organizational and Communication skills
- Ability to evaluate and comprehend techniques, procedures and changes to meet variable situations
- Able to effectively communicate with supervisors and directors to improve his/her skills and adapt to Agency culture and policies.
