You may know Chris Therien from his incredible career as defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers spanning 12 NHL seasons and 753 games. Or perhaps you recognize him from his time as 97.5 The Fanatic broadcaster or color commentator for NBC Sports Philadelphia. However, you may not know Chris Therien the addiction recovery advocate, motivational speaker, and now author of the inspirational memoir “Road to Redemption.” In his book Chris shares candid stories not only from his life in pro hockey, but his struggle with addiction and journey in recovery.

Chris’ passion to help others in their own recovery from alcohol and substance abuse led to his work with the Pennsylvania Recovery Center and co-founding the Therien Foundation, a nonprofit that provides financial support and sober living arrangements for individuals in recovery.
On October 25 Chris visited our Claymont clinic at 590 Naamans Road, signed the CORAS Banner of Hope, and reminded us of the important work we do every day in drug and alcohol treatment programs.
Proceeds from Road to Recovery will go to substance abuse programs throughout the tri-state area.
